Brief Description of Event:
Cemetery Restoration & Care- Weston State Hospital was a facility that cared for individuals with mental illness from the 1800s to the 1990s. Three historic cemeteries (used until 1970s) have fallen into disrepair. A Day To Serve volunteers may arrive on site (Sept. 18, 2017 @ 4:00 pm) and assist with brush removal, landscaping, and other grounds care tasks. Long term goals for interested volunteers will be to research records and restore markers that may have been damaged or misplaced. We welcome individuals who would like to help us honor the memory of those impacted by mental illness. *In the event of rain, an alternative date will be selected* For more information, please contact Volunteer Services at 304-269-1210 or email: Krista.D.Adkins@wv.gov
