Event Information
Saturday, September 22, 2018 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Event Address:
Pleasant View Historic Site
11810 Darnestown Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20878
Brief Description of Event:
Join us as we create a native plant garden at Pleasant View, an historic African American site with a school, church and cemetery. Pleasant View celebrates 150 years this year -- it was purchased after the Civil War by freed slaves. We will add more native trees and perennials, pull weeds, and spread mulch. Volunteers can learn local history as well as techniques for creating habitat and better storm water management. Visit to see photos of our project and more. Optional pot-luck picnic follows the event. Main dish provided, bring sides or dessert. Earth Stewardship East is a faith-based group open to anyone who wants to be a better earth steward. We are a regional group of LDS Earth Stewardship.
